Week 4: Leaving Home

How would you feel if you had to leave your home, to go to live in the countryside? This week we will be finding out about the 300,000 children who were evacuated on 1st September 1939.
The children got on the train.

Now that the snow has disappeared, please remember you will still need your wellies if you would like to play on the field.

Week 3: The Blitz

What does the word Blitz mean?
Listen to these audio clips- how does it make you feel?

I hope you have all had an exciting weekend in the snow and are ready for more snowy playtimes on Monday.
Please remember hats, gloves and wellies. It was disappointing to see so many children without their full PE kit on Friday- can those children involved make a special effort this week to be more organised.

Week 2: Outbreak of War

This week we will be using your homework research to help us answer questions about the outbreak of World War 2.

When and why did the Second World War happen?
Which countries were involved in the War?
Where did the fighting take place?
Who were the War leaders?

Our 'Mean Green Time Machine' is beginning to take shape. Have you got any ideas for a Time Machine Rap?
Please remember that we will be visiting Peterborough City Hospital on Monday morning to see the A&E Department in action. You will need a small snack and a water bottle, and of course a warm coat in case of snow!
PE kits are needed on Wednesdays and Fridays (jogging bottoms, a warm fleece and hat and gloves for the outdoor session on Fridays please)

Happy New Year!

Welcome to the Spring Term 2013. I hope you have all had a great Christmas break and are ready for a busy term ahead.
What have you been doing during the Christmas holiday?
Have you made any New Year Resolutions?
Our new topic is  'Step back in Time.' Where would you like to travel back in time to? What would you like to do? Who would you like to meet?

Use the Blog to share your ideas. Remember to write in accurately punctuated sentences and don't forget those capital letters for proper nouns!
