Week 3: The Blitz

What does the word Blitz mean?
Listen to these audio clips- how does it make you feel?

I hope you have all had an exciting weekend in the snow and are ready for more snowy playtimes on Monday.
Please remember hats, gloves and wellies. It was disappointing to see so many children without their full PE kit on Friday- can those children involved make a special effort this week to be more organised.

I think the word Blitz means lightning war and the clips make me feel really sad because the people who lived in London tried to make it really a nice place and then it all got destroyed from the bombs.
I am looking forward to making a snowman with my friends.

The clip made me feel that if I was there then I would be very scared. And I think the word blitz is a German word and I think means lightning war.

The word Blitz itself means lightning in German but the words Blitz War means lightning War. When i listen to the clips it makes me kind of feel panicked. I feel sad and sorry for those people who died in the war and those soldiers who did their best to defend our country. If i would have seen the bombing take place i would probably feel terrified and scared that my house might burn down.If i would have heard that siren every day it probably have given me nightmares.

The video made me think about the feelings of possibly being dead within a week. It made me shiver all the way down my spine. The sound of the bombs blowing up and the roar of the planes flying over head, has stayed with me.

The clips made me feel scared and I think the sirens must of panicked people alot. I also think people would have a lot of nightmares about the sirens and the bombing. The word blitz originates from the German word blitzkrieg (sorry not to sure how to spell it) meaning lightning war.

P.S. I am really enjoying the snow!

Watching the clips made me feel like I was there, that the sirens were actually going and that i would probably be panicking a lot of the time. If i was there and i closed my eyes and heard the sirens, i would of felt really scared because you wouldn't really know what to do, if it was the first time that the sirens went off and you were a child of my age.
