Week 6: Where did people live in Tudor times?

Have you ever visited a Tudor house? Tell us about it...
This week individual photos will be taken on Monday afternoon so everyone needs to be looking very smart. On Wednesday afternoon we are going to AMVC for a basketball tournament; please make sure that you have your full PE kit in school and a water bottle to take with you.

Most houses are recognized for their 'black and white'effect. They were half timbered and wooden frames. The spaces between the frames were filled with sticks and wet clay called Wattle and Daub. There are still many houses from the Tudor times in England some are even 500 years old.

Houses in the Tudor period were built from materials that came from far away. Rich people had grand stone or brick mansions but people who had a little bit of money often lived in black and white patterned houses. I have been to Burghley house which was built when Elizabeth I reigned.

In the Tudor times the people who were poor had windows covered by horn or wooden shutters but rich people can afford glass which was very expensive .

The people in the tudor times like the rich had leaded windows. It is so strange. They took there windows with them on holiday. Because the windows were really expencive.

In Tudor times people who were poor had wooden old crooked houses with straw roof but prople who was rich, had lovely posh wooden houses that have had pattens on it but most houses have been painted black and white wooden fame and had wooden pegs to hold it. Also they had glass windows that were made out of small peaces of glass inside glass! I know all of this from when we have been leaning about Little Moreton Hall.
